Dr. Mohammed Amjed Hossain is a member of Bangladesh Civil Service Administration Cadre. Presently he is holding the position of Joint Secretary. He joined Ashuganj Power Station Company Limited (APSCL) as a Member of the Board of Directors on 18 July 2026. He was also adopted as a member of a Board Sub-committee i.e. the Audit Committee of APSCL.

CAREER SUMMARY: Dr. Amjed entered in Civil Service Administration Cadre as an Assistant Commissioner in 2003. Before entering the civil service, he worked as a Scientific Officer in Soil Resource Development Institute (SRDI). In Civil Service he worked as Assistant Commissioner (Land), Senior Assistant Commissioner and UNO. Before joining Planning Commission, he served as Director of BPATC. He is a Member of National Training Resource Pool. He has keen interest on the area of Financial & Procurement Management, Project Management, Office management, Environment & Disaster management, Research methodology and Change Management (including TQM).

EDUCATION AND RESEARCH: Dr. Amjed has been honored PhD degree in 2014 from University Malaysia Pahang (UMP), Malaysia in Environmental Management. During his PhD he conducted research on water quality assessment, water quality index and water quality modeling. He graduated (MS) from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Bangladesh in Agroforestry and environment in 2008. During his MS degree he had undergone research on “Impact of Social Forestry Program of Forest Department on the Ecology and Socio-economic Condition of the Beneficiaries at Coastal Belt of Bangladesh”. He completed his undergraduate degree in Agriculture from Bangladesh Agricultural University.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION: Dr. Amjed successfully completed a number of professional trainings in home and abroad. In home he had successfully completed all required training related to his service. Besides compulsory training he have pertained professional training like, “Tsunami Vulnerabilies and Hazards”, “Change Management Training”, “3 weeks training on Procurement of Goods, Works & Services” at Engineering Staff College, ToT on ‘Child-Centered Disaster Risk Reduction’, Advanced Evidence Informed Policy Making Course, ToT on Project Management, several trainings on Development Project Preparation, Appraisal, Approval, Implementation, Monitoring & Evaluation and so on. In abroad he participated in the training program on ‘Managing Change in Singapore Public Service’ in Civil Service College, Singapore on 2010, Research Methodology Course in Malaysia in 2011, ‘Total Quality Management’ training in NIMSME, India, Leadership training in USA and SDG Localization in Australia. Dr. Amjed visited a number of countries like India, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, UAE, USA, Canada, Australia, Pakistan and UAE. Currently he is holding the position of Chairperson of the Governing Board of SAARC Energy Centre, National Focal Point of International Solar Alliance (ISA) and Internation Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).

RESEARCH PUBLICATIONS: Dr. Amjed published a good number of Journal Articles in international well-reputed peer reviewed and indexed journals. He attended and presented his research works in several international conferences.
